Welcome to Visiam

Visiam’s technology will reduce volume, increase recycling rates, and decrease transportation costs associated with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management globally. By integrating Visiam’s technology our customers will be able to process a wider range of inputs, ranging from MSW to corn stover, food waste organics, manure and more, and increase their overall yield from Anaerobic Digestion, Bio-Chemical, Cellulosic Ethanol, and other liquid fuel production due to Visiam’s ability to deliver a product high in free sugars. It is Visiam’s vision to be the worldwide leader in biomass treatment and MSW resource recovery.

Visiam has two size configurations the 8’ x 15’ Visiam Thermal Vessel, which will process at least 30,000 tons of MSW or alternative feedstock, per year, or the 8’ x 24’ Visiam Thermal Vessel, which can process at least 45,000 tons of MSW or alternative feedstock per year. The vessels can operate in a stand-alone environment or in multiple configurations. Visiam is currently working on other vessel sizes to address additional market segments and feedstocks.

Visiam’s previous commercial sized pilot and test plant was located in Shakopee, Minnesota and incorporated two 8’ x 24’ Thermal Vessels.  This facility operated under a limited testing permit from the State of MN from 2005 - 2008, and was authorized to process up to 250 tons per week.  The facility was the proving bed for the Patents and over the 2.5 years and 4000+ hours of operation, optimized the technology for commercial deployment.  The Shakopee facility was decommissioned in 2008 when the permit expired and the equipment is now available to relocate to a commercial facility and transfer station to be placed into operation in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Visiam currently operates a materials test facility in Blaine, Minnesota with a 2’ x 6’ vessel capable of processing 100 lb loads of material.  This facility was placed into operation in March 2009 to demonstrate and study the effects of the value of the Thermal Vessel on other feedstocks.  Since being placed into operation, Visiam has processed over 120 loads comprised of 14 different feedstocks (corn stover, manure, switch grass, waste water screenings and potato waste, to name a few).  The company is in the process of adding additional equipment to its facility to test out further processing techniques and technology.  These are technologies supplied by strategic partners for further integration into other processes.
